Signs of Spring, Green Eggs and Kittens

Here in the South, signs of Spring are starting to pop up everywhere!  We recently went on a Spring expedition to find signs of this impending change in season.  I found this idea in a book my mother passed down to me called Five Minute Miracles.  I love this book! It has quick and easy project ideas to do with your child for every season.  You can click on the link below to view more details at Amazon.

We basically went around our yard and found any signs of Spring.  New grass, bugs, flowers, budding trees, etc.  Here are some pictures of what the little school girl and her little sis found.  And by the way, the cute princess crowns they are wearing came from another project idea in this book.  It was so quick and easy and they are still wearing them!

We actually found a very cold and slow-moving bumble bee on a budding tree

And we found a big patch of little white flowers

We also took a little time to celebrate the birthday of Dr. Seuss which was March 2nd.  We had a brunch of scrambled green eggs and ham, toast with your choice of butter-side up or down and Lorax mustaches (orange slices).  We also watched a Dr. Seuss movie and read every Dr. Seuss book we had in the house.  It was a fun day.  :)  And in case you are interested for next year, I tinted the eggs with a homemade spinach puree.  They never suspected a thing....shhhhh.

Our Dr. Seuss inspired brunch

"I speak for the trees!"

Yuck!  Green eggs!  After she finally tried them she liked them.

And lastly, our new, sweet little kitten!  Our cat of almost eight years recently disappeared and after much consideration....we decided to get the girls a new little kitten.  Our little school girl named her Clara Sophia.  "Clara" from a book she loves about a cow that sneezes and "Sophia" from Disney's newest princess series Sophia the First.  She is a very sweet little kitty and is proving to be yet another learning experience for our little school girl.  Most important lesson she has learned so far?  You can't boss a cat!  Ha!  Here are some pictures of our new Clara Sophia.

Thanks again for visiting!!
