Summer, summer happened so fast

Summer is over!!  (insert lengthy whine here) Well, it is almost over and we have been a very busy bunch around here.  Some things we had planned did not work out and some unexpected things happened.  All in all, we had a good time.  Now...it is time to get ready for kindergarten.  (Wow....where has the time gone?)  I remember when our little school girl looked like this just yesterday!  How sweet :)

Notice how clean that room is too!  All that changed when little sister started crawling.  Let's just say little sister lives for chaos and destruction.  See picture below.....enough said.  Yes, that is hand sanitizer she is drinking.  Yes, this panicked mom ended up on the phone with poison control that day.   It's a good thing God made her so cute.  One sweet little smile and I forget all about that path of destruction she leaves through my house every day....well, almost.

I seriously miss those sweet baby days....and my clean house.  But I suppose they have to grow up sometime.  So, on to kindergarten we go.

Here is a peek at the highlights of our summer....

Her very first ballet recital

Party time!

Our little school girl turned 5!

Tinkerbell pizza party

There were many other fun parties this summer!

Party at the coolest park ever!

Star Wars party with an outdoor showing of Empire Strikes Back

Meeting Ariel at a mermaid party!!

Telling Ariel goodbye....she did not want to leave.  Can you tell?

Family camping trip

Vacation Bible School

Some educational fun :)

An outdoor science project involving worms

Ewwwww!

We planted a garden but the bugs ate up almost everything this year.  :(

Remember the tomato plants our little school girls planted in the Spring to sell at the Farmer's Market?  (I mentioned it in this post.)  She ended up with lots of them but we were out of town every time they had the kid's day at the Farmer's market.  Oh well, we will try again next year.  The tomatoes were yummy though!

I also mentioned this princess garden in a previous post along with the tomato plants.  Her flowers grew very well for a while until our little kitten knocked them down while we were gone one weekend.  We kept the kit and will try again next Spring.

A cooking project making protein balls or "cookie balls" as the girls call them.

Here is our "banging wall."  I mentioned making one of these on my Facebook page a while back.  the girls love it!  I'm glad we do not have any neighbors! By the way...if you haven't "liked" our Facebook page you can do so here....if you want.

Ten Apples up on top?  Not so much on top....but it was fun!

Story time and the summer reading program at the local library

"Green" magic show!  This was a cool, free show (through the local library).  Every magic trick he did used recycled items.  Pretty neat!

And of course....summer ballet!

And.....fun with friends and family

Thanks for checking in with us!  I look forward to sharing our Kindergarten experience with you soon.  Check in later for a post on what I am using for our kindergarten curriculum this year and what I am doing for little sister too.
